I reserved my unit online. When I went into the office to complete the rental the computers were down. I provided them with a copy of my insurance but they lost it and charged me for the in-house insurance for several months until I realized it. I had to go through my credit card company to resolve the issue. I then turned off auto pay so I would have more control over the payments and got online every month to pay my bill. Several months later I went out of town. I was unable to pay my bill online because the system cannot be accessed from outside the US. I emailed customer service and explained that I wanted to pay my bill but was unable to access the website from my current location. They said there was nothing they could do and that if I didn't pay an auction date would be set. I ended my trip and returned home at great expense to save the contents of the unit from being auctioned off. The facility is infested with roaches. I have to carefully inspect anything I want to bring home that has been stored in the unit. The staff is friendly but inflexible and do not take customer complaints or concerns seriously. There are many different storage facilities available so I would recommend avoiding EXTRA SPACE STORAGE if possible.
I was amazed at the great prices compared to many other locations I checked and was doubly amazed at the cleanliness of the facility, the layout and ease of pulling in and out, and the great condition of the facility itself. The automatic gates worked perfect, the storage unit doors (mine was roll-up) were extremely easy to operate and no dents anywhere. The facility itself was also nicely painted and manicured. But the real deal here is the customer service. I went in two weeks prior to my move in date to reserve the unit and the manager was extremely courteous and helpful. And when I returned close to my move in date, both the manager and co-worker were very efficient in the paper work required to rent the unit. A total time saver. I will definitely recommend this facility to anybody and everybody I know who needs a storage unit. Thank you Extra Space Storage. -David
Having utilized storage facilities for some two decades this is my first experience with Extra Space Storage. I am impressed with the facilities themselves as being clean and well maintained, along with excellent video security that captures moving objects; nothing gets by. Together with the online capability for contract signing and other features makes this company a strong contender in this market.
So far, I am very satisfied with Extra Space. Reserving my unit was quick and easy. Everyone I spoke with was helpful and nice. I would recommend them. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of lighting in the indoor storage areas.
